… to an opportunity

The construction and setting up of hydroelectric plants on the Monti Sibillini aqueduct and the Pescara aqueduct, should be seen as an important point of reference for all water operators who have aqueducts with similar operational conditions, and who, beyond fulfilling their primary role of supplying water, want to use their pipelines to produce energy from renewable sources; energy that would otherwise be dispersed.
The technology employed by Hydrowatt allows the installation of hydroelectric plants of variable output that will, without jeopardizing the aqueduct's regular operation, result in the addition of substantial financial benefit for the water operator thanks to the sale and/or use (by the operators themselves) of the electricity produced.
This technology allows every water operator to join the energy production from renewable sources business, thereby allowing it achieve the following objectives:

  • Rationalisation of aqueduct use (sale of water + energy production
  • Diversification of revenue streams
  • Increased returns through the sale of energy
  • Development of environmental and social awareness through the production of renewable energy
  • Possible self-production of energy for pumping stations and/or purification plants, heavily reducing the cost of energy bought from the market.
