Cannafischi plant launched

Electricity production at the Cannafischi plant, built by Hydrowatt Abruzzo on the pipelines of the “La Morgia” aqueduct in the municipality of San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore (PE), will start in the first two weeks of September 2007. This is an important project because it marks the beginning of the utilization of the hydroelectric resources of the La Morgia aqueduct, which supplies various municipalities in the provinces of Pescara and Chieti. The plant in question has a generating capacity of 244 kW and will produce about 1,200,000 kWh/year, utilizing the flow rate of 100 l/s from the “La Morgia” spring in the municipality of Abbateggio, which, at the point near where the turbine has been installed, reaches a pressure of about 30 atmospheres, ie equal to a column of water 300 m high.
